Sid Frank Talk & Live Performance  - Soundscapes, Fragments of Memory -

Montreal-based sound artist Sid Frank.This event is an experience of his minimalist electronic sounds and drones that shake the memories and emotions of listeners by combining various sound sources such as field recordings, radio broadcasts, and record archives.
In the first part of the exhibition, visitors will experience Sid Frank's past works, in which delicate layers of sound echoing in the silence transform a space into a new landscape, and an interview with the artist will explore his approach to production and his inspirations.In the second part, Sid Frank, Makoto Onuki, Layla Morpho, Mitsuo Morooka, and Harusaku Sho will join the main live performance.Under the themes of "soundscapes" and "fragments of memory," each artist's unique sound world will fuse together to begin an unpredictable sonic journey.


Sid Frank
Sid Frank is a Montreal-based sound artist who creates minimalist electronic drones incorporating sounds from field recordings, AM, FM, and shortwave radio broadcast recordings, and archival record collections.He has performed in Japan, China, Taiwan, Mexico, and Canada.


Makoto Onuki
Lives and works in Fukuoka City, Japan.
He is good at distorted localization performance using materials such as electronics/field recordings.
He specializes in distorted performances with a sense of localization.
In addition to his solo name, he is also active in the drone pop unit "SEA LEVEL" and plays drums in the psychedelic rock band "cicada".


Gensaku shirabe
IT Engineer / Musician / Artist
Mainly works as an IT engineer, but also organizes exhibitions, etc.
He also studied abroad in Boston, U.S.A. when he was 19 years old.
He began creating artworks under the influence of a musician he met while studying abroad.After returning to Japan, he has exhibited his installation works mainly at galleries.
In 2008, he released his first album "Nine Waves" at Unigest.
Since 2012, he has been active in quelle (kubele), and stopped his music activities when the members left the group,
Currently, he focuses on research-based art projects.

Layla Morpho
Layla studied classical piano under Steve Drury at New England Conservatory of Music in Boston, US. Influenced by different genres of music such as ambient, electronica, industrial, drone, noise, house, hip-hop, free jazz, and contemporary classical minimal music, she started making tracks in 2022.

Mitsuo Morooka
Born in 1979.He is active in drumming, TV performance, and sound and image performance/exhibition.This will be his first live performance in about 4 years.
