Here's an English translation of the Japanese text, along with a more natural-sounding version for a museum or exhibition context.
Option 1: Direct Translation
"Things that can be seen and things that disappear when eaten."
Here, "things that can be seen" refers to the artworks displayed on the wall. On the other hand, "things that disappear when eaten" are, as is obvious at a glance, the fruits and vegetables piled in a relief-like basket. Each of these artworks is equipped with a coin box for a 100-yen coin, serving as a self-service stall where one can "exchange" for an amount equivalent to the displayed vegetables and fruits. Just as the bulbs of an electric light gradually burn out, some of the vegetables and fruits in the basket disappear from view in exchange for some 100-yen coins. However, the temporal breadth that the work can hold seems to expand beyond "things that can be seen," encompassing the "in-between" or the "after" of the "things that disappear."
